INTERVIEW WITH HELIOS

Helios is a Bass music producer from Sydney, Australia. He just released his hard-hitting debut EP “Hellfire” on LA based label Hybrid Trap.

Some of the biggest artists in the field such as Marauda, Ghastly and AVANCE been pushing his music and playing his songs in their own set list. He has shared the stage with Marauda, Shockone, Quix, Sippy, Enschway and more.

Hi Helios! How are you doing?
Hey I’m doing pretty good! Just staying safe and staying inside right now.

Tell us how it all began, how did you get into producing?
I got into music production (seriously) in March last year, though I had some experience with Ableton prior to that.

For those who aren’t familiar with your music, could you describe your personal sound?
My style is essentially horror meets sci-fi. There are a lot of extraterrestrial elements in my music and I think my branding reflects this.

You just released an EP called “Hellfire” through the label “Hybrid Trap”. Could you share the creative process behind the EP?
Yes, the Hellfire EP finally released this week! I finished writing the majority of the EP over the course of a month or so late last year. We spent a long time organising the visual elements of the EP. As it was my first major release, I wanted to make sure the artwork and accompanying visuals reflected the style of my music and the direction the Helios project is going in.

What is your favorite song from the EP?
I love all of them, however Hellfire & Exterminate definitely reflect my style the most and were also very enjoyable to make.

Nicholas Gwizdak did your EP teasers. How did you ended up working with Gwizdak?
Nick is really talented! I was actually introduced to him by a mutual friend who he had done some work for. I loved his work and it was an easy decision to get him on board designing all the visual elements for both the Hellfire EP & the Helios project in general. Do not sleep on this man!

What is the best track you ever made?
I actually have a house track that’s a little different from most of my other originals, yet it still sounds like a Helios song. Definitely some of my best work & I’m very excited for it to come out!

We are nearing to the end of our interview but I would like to give you the chance to share something with your fans & new listeners. What should we expect from you during 2020?
I have several more releases already lined up over the next few months. Currently sitting on over a dozen unreleased originals, most of which will hopefully see the light of day sometime this year. Besides that I would love to play some shows later this year when life returns to normal.
