LEGEND AND ROLE MODEL- Funtcase ticks both of these boxes and many more as a bass producer. He has been in the scene for over a decade collaborating with artists like Modestep, Versa, Flakzz, Virtual Riot just to name a few. Funtcase has his own compilation called DPMO (Don’t Piss Me Off) under Circus Records to which he picks up a bunch of underground bass tracks for premiere. It was such a big honor to interview Funtcase! Read more below:
Tell us how it all began, how did you get into producing?
I basically started messing on the game ‘Music’ on the playstation and ‘Music 2000’ with loops making all kinds of tracks, eventually that evolved to reason and now cubase and was just a hobby that turned professional really!
For those who aren’t familiar with your music, could you describe your personal sound
Energetic, loud, weighty.
You have over 10 years’ experience of working with electronic dance music. You have seen how the electronic music has developed. What is your opinion about todays “Dubstep”?
I love it! It’s diverse, the production levels are higher than ever in the genre itself and there’s so much fresh talent flying in at all angles keeping it healthy.

What are your favourite elements within your recent releases that still call back to/is heavily drawn from the original inspiration behind the Funtcase project?
Just the vibe I try to bring to the tracks. Organically it just kinda happens and evolves over time but you never really lose that old school feel.
You just released a compilation “DPMO vol.3” which includes big tunes from artists like Whales, Yakz, FLAKZZ, Akeos and more! How did you end up taking all these names on DPMO release?
So we have a submission email and people come to me with them and i select the best of the best. Sometimes i’ll trawl through soundcloud on the odd ocassion or even have a recommendation from another artist.
What is your favorite DPMO track?
It’s LITERALLY impossible to choose one, but some of my absolute favourites have to be Impending Doom, Perish Song, Welcome Tune, Jaded and Element 115.
What has been your funniest or embarrassing moment to date related to music?
It’s gotta be the time I accidentally tweeted my phone number when I meant to send it to Skism in DM hahaha.
We are nearing to the end of our interview but I would like to give you the chance to share something with your fans & new listeners. What to wait from you during 2020?
I have another EP on the make and some epic collabs and singles coming, not to mention some special stuff. Also have the new DPMO clothing range out very soon! Keep your eyes peeled.
