After a monumental 12 months that saw his profile sky-rocketed into the limelight with his breakout “Hive EP” on Never Say Die’s Black Label, a subsequent “Gremlin EP” follow up, a stellar collaboration with Moody Good on Gud Vibrations, and releases on Barong Family, Dim Mak, all while remixing for Bassrush & most recently, Snails & Carbin on Slugz Music, the ever industrious and forward thinking Australian LEOTRIX has delivered a momentous body of work on 12th Planet’s hallowed Disciple: Round Table label.
“Collapse”, his 3rd EP in 12 months, delivers 4 brain rattling records, each as skillfully thought out and well designed as the last. The ep’s title track “Collapse” takes the listener from an spectral intro and then powerbombs them into a cascading drop melody sure to set head bangers into overdrive. “Big Choon” gives us what is sure to become a quick fan favorite with its steady rhythm and insane sound design. “Gacked” slaps the listener with a face melting lead that’s paired with a feverish drop pattern dripping with bounce that’s both creative and refreshing and the EP is rounded out with “Alien Blaster” which shows us why Leotrix is a master of creating forward thinking, unconventional records.
As always, with his latest release the ever inventive 20 year old phenom showcases why he is highly touted as one of the most promising young artists in the bass music industry, and with supporters including the likes of NGHTMRE, Slander, Noisia, Subtronics, Virtual Riot, 12th Planet, Zomboy and countless other heavyweights, you’d be hard pressed to disagree. If his track record to date tells us anything, it’s that Leotrix is, without a doubt, one of the next stars of Bass Music, and he’s not pulling any punches on his way up!
