WYD! has gained support from some of the biggest names in the scene such as Snails, Hi I’m Ghost, Zomboy, Subtronics & more
Jonathan Marquez and Alan Vasquez Jr have one question… WYD!?
Hi WYD! How are you doing?
What’s gucci bro I’m doing alright, all things considered. (Quick disclaimer) Wyd! is a duo project so I may respond to some questions with we and us!
Take us back to the beginning, how did you found your passion into producing electronic music?
Weirdly enough it was a random club I had went to with some friends and heard the DJ drop a dubstep track, not having any idea what the hell I was hearing I made the decision in that moment to find out what it was and to try and make it myself.
Your newest track “Kickflip!” has been out few months. Could you share the creative process behind these songs?
We don’t really have a “creative” process outside the normal messing around with sounds and arranging things in order. But I essentially try my best to nail a flow first. Then build off that until i finish something.
Your remix of ”RL Grime & Juelz – Formula” was released months ago. What made you choose this one song above all others to do a remix of?
There was no real thought behind it honestly besides “wow this is a really cool song I’m gonna try to make it cooler!“
What is your favorite song you have ever made?
My personal favorite is our flip of formula just because the overall energy is really good and I think it best captivates the sound we’re going for with this project in general.
Who do you hope to work with in the future, if you could name top 3 producers/artists to work with and why?
I don’t really know, there are not many other producers I hold in high regards if I’m being completely honest. That being said tho I will work with anyone who has dope energy and just wants to make really cool shit no matter how big or small.
This quarantine period has been hard for the music industry so now it’s time to support and support, any interesting new producers you would recommend to follow?
JIQUI JIQUI JIQUI JIQUI JIQUI, I can’t say it enough lol!
What has been your funniest or embarrassing moment to date related to music?
I was at this show once and fell straight thru the stage’s platform like some straight looney tunes type shit.
Would you like to share something with the followers of Let the Bass Get You?
Tysm for the interview, genuinely didn’t expect anyone to want to hear from this project. This year has been especially challenging but, there’s a lot more music on the way amongst other things as well. And we’ve been having a sick ass time so far regardless.
