VEER just released his second EP ever and first through NSD: Black label! VEER has gained huge amount of support from artists like Subtronics, Modestep, Akeos and more heavy hitters. I got an awesome opportunity to interview VEER and learn more about man himself. Read the interview below!
Hi VEER! How are you doing?
Hey! I am doing absolutely fantastic!

Take us back to the beginning, how did you found your passion into producing electronic music?
I started producing when I was in my 9th grade for a year when I first watched Martin Garrix breakdown his track “Animals” released on Spinnin’ Records. Watching the breakdown made me curious as to what software he was using. I produced for a year before I quit because I felt it wasn’t my thing. After my 10th Grade ended, I gave it one more shot, and it’s been 2 years since then and honestly coming back to it was one of the best decisions I have ever made.
Where comes the name VEER?
The name “Veer” actually has no real backstory to it haha. When I came back to making music, I couldn’t come up with a name that could define both my music and my style. So, I just decided to use my first name! It was quite unique considering I started by making bass music as I had never heard of an artist called “Veer” before that.
How have you been staying productive during the quarantine period?
The quarantine has definitely had both its pros and cons, for me at least. I’ll start with the pros: I got to make more music, I got to discover my style, I got noticed by a bunch of bigger artists which wouldn’t have been possible if the quarantine never happened as they would’ve never tapped into the underground as they are busy doing shows and other important stuff. The cons were a bit disappointing as I just got done with school this year and I had plans to go around but those got canceled. Staying inside also doesn’t help as it kind of makes you a bit lazier. I’m glad I am still able to pump out new music even after not leaving my house for almost 8 months now!
You released an EP called “Malfunction” through NSD: black label. Could you share the creative process behind about this EP?
“Malfunction EP” was a total accident. I actually started the EP with the song “Malfunction” which I made while trying to look for different ways to resample some sounds. It was quite hard to get it right but I am pretty happy with the final result! The rest of the tracks just…happened. From “Recall w/ Cyclops” to “Gandu“, all of them were just me trying to play around with my style.
“Malfunction” EP includes collaborations with Cyclops & Cripplingg. How did you end up working with these names?
Cyclops and I used to talk a bit. I was a bit of a fanboy because I used to watch his YouTube videos. Fast forward 2 months, we decided to work on a track together and I am honestly proud of how well we managed to fuse our sounds.
The collab with Cripplingg happened he heard a clip of my track “JerkOff” when I uploaded to it on my Soundcloud as a clip. We had similar styles with weird flows and melodic elements so I had a blast seeing how well our styles blended together!
What is your favorite song from the EP?
I honestly don’t know if I could choose a personal favorite song from the EP as all of them are so special to me. But if I had to choose one, Jerk Off will have to be my favorite one as that was the track that helped me figure out my style of music and it was one of my biggest plates for MONTHS now, with the clip on Soundcloud gaining support from Subtronics, Akeos, Syzy, Kill Feed and various other artists.
This quarantine period has been hard for music industry so now it’s time to support and support, any interesting new producers you would recommend to follow?
Some of the most insane producers right now, that I have heard from, are from the underground. Here are a few of the names who I frequently keep listening to and thin deserve a LOT more recognition than they currently do: Maahir, MIDN!GHT, BLAZTER, MYRID, Cripplingg, Qwaston, Vonranz, and a lot more!
