INTERVIEW WITH BEUTNOISE!

Music became his life when he was 4 years old. At the age of 6, he began to play the piano and a year later he enrolled the National Music School of Cuba. Born and raised in Havana, a tropical concrete jungle where his roots and rhythms shaped, BeutNoise found his sound… Now, he’s here to claim his spot on the scene, ready to break Gorillas’ necks. He’ll bang on his chest until his bongos get heard. There is no way you won’t headbang when you listen to him. He’s the New Kong in town and he’s here to rule the wild.

Hi Beutnoise! How are you doing?
Hi man, im pretty happy!

Take us back to the beginning, how did you found your passion into producing electronic music?
I have been involved in music all my life, since I am 4 years old I have been studying classical piano, then I went to the music conservatory and the national art school. Even my passion for electronic music began to emerge since I was about 12 years old, the truth is that I really liked how different the sounds were from the “acoustically correct” that I was used to and that they gave us in school, you see, the schools of music here does not have a focus on modern music, only classical, so it is very easy to feel frustrated, not being able to do what you wanted. That’s why I dropped out of school in the middle of my studies, around the age of 16, and I started to focus more on making my own music. It was an instant love since I opened my first daw (reason) and I knew that that was my path, I had to face my parents and Cuban society to follow it and it was hard, but it has paid off and I do not regret anything.

How have you been staying productive during the quarantine period?
The quarantine has sincerely been one of the most creative periods of my life, I am actually quite asocial, the truth is, I do not share many tastes or thoughts with the majority of Cuban youth, so being isolated was not so stressful, and having no distractions, I was able to focus on my music. Tho i miss my friends a lot 🙁

You released an EP called “Kong” through Disciple Round Table. Could you share the creative process behind about this EP?
I started this ep in March, I was clear that I wanted to establish a brand both on an aesthetic and musical level, and that I wanted to use my roots in a non-explicit way, emphasizing the rhythmic aspects. Everything was gradually emerging, until I had the first version of the EP which had only 4 tracks, at this moment I was looking for a label to release it and suddenly the A&R of DiscipleRT wrote me that he wanted my music, I showed him the EP and he loved it, to the point that he asked me for more 🙂 so at the end i did a 6 track EP. The gorilla brand emerged in a very simple way, many people called me the jungle boy/tarzan on the servers because of my resemblance to this character and that in the eyes of the world Cuba is in a way a jungle. That’s why I called it KONG EP I am very grateful to disciple for giving me a place on the label

“Kong” EP includes collaborations with SEED. How did you end up working with SEED?
We are both cubans They had told him about me, and because a little more than a year ago he wrote to me and we started to make friends. At first we almost quarreled due to differences of thought, but little by little we became great friends. This collaboration has been the project when I’ve had fun the most ’till date, it came out very smoothly and we finished the song in no more than 3 days. Seed is one of my favorite producers and one of the dearest friends and we haven’t seen each other’s faces yet, I’m very happy to have met him. He has been the person who has helped me the most and without him none of this would not be possible.

What is your favorite song from the EP?
New Kong
and Jungle Heat
