Esseks, the musical project of NYC based producer and illustrator Sam Eckstein, has released a new single “Boss Lair” off his forthcoming album The Villain’s Journey, via Deadbeats.
Breaking into the dance music scene in 2015 with his incredible debut album Bad Cartoons Esseks has been releasing music for a hot minute. Despite the setbacks we have all faced, 2020 was a successful year for Esseks, releasing a whole bunch of music such as his EP Soul Stone with Shanghai Doom, and a track for Bassrush’s compilation album The Prophecy Vol 1.
Following a release (“Ellie’s Nap”) earlier this year on CloZee’s self-curated album Emergence, Esseks is now starting to teasing music from the upcoming “The Villain’s Journey” album with the LP’s lead single garnering praise from tastemakers like Bassrush and Billboard Dance. A brilliant follow-up to its predecessor “Boss Lair” is a moody, shape-shifting track that utilizes melodic bass and spooky hip-hop samples.
The large left field tracks starts off with a rich folly filled intro before getting into a super groovy vibe in the drops – some super tasty well arranged verbed out plucks really sparkle through the back half of the track!
