This is turning out to be an amazing year for music! Crankdat, the young Ohio based artist has teamed up with Ace Aura for their first ever collaboration “The Feeling” and it is a match made in heaven that perfectly fits the Monstercat sonic aesthetic.
Released on 24 June 2021 on Monstercat, the track combines gritty basses, upbeat synth stabs, and powerful chord stacks to draw listeners right into their world into the high-intensity drop.
Starting off with this awesome warbling takeoff which gives way to some well crafted emotional lyrics the track builds into a classic colour riddim vibe which just exudes good feelings from start to finish. The second drops hits so well in such a dreamy fashion. Perfectly fusing both of their sonic complexities, “The Feeling” is a testament to the musical prowess and range of the versatile producers.
Very excited to finally drop this tune! I wrote this song about me and my girlfriend’s cat – momo – who really hates kisses. This inspired the hook “you don’t have to love me.” Don’t tell him the song is about him, his ego is already too big. Working with Eric (Ace Aura) was really cool. We talked about collaborating and I sent him a demo that I was stuck on and had shelved. He took the track and gave it everything that it needed and added some really cool sounds! He is a super talented producer and an exceptional sound designer – I’m glad to have made such an awesome record with him!
