Tisoki has really just gone and released this amazingly cohesive and impressive piece of art upon us. His debut album ‘01953‘ is released last Friday via Monstercat and I’ve been listening back to it non stop!
Featuring ten tracks that traverse classic dubstep stylings, trap-fueled grime, experimental bass, and beyond, his genre-fluidity is a glimpse into the varied musical journey that brought him to where he is today. The british bass music machine has absolutely delivered with this release.
Tisoki’s impressive catalogue has earned him support from household names across electronic music including Excision, Mija, Annie Nightingale, Skrillex, and DJ Snake to name a few. With a background in rock and metal bands, his high-octane performance chops have landed him on world-renowned stages such as Red Rocks, EDC Las Vegas, and Coachella. As live music returns this year, fans can look forward to experiencing the prolific producer’s new material in a proper warehouse setting soon.
Starting out strong with a vocal chop laden “2020 (INTRO)” the starting track blends into HOLD ON ME, which we covered a few weeks back when it released (spoiler, it’s awesome – read more here). The third track WAVEY really gets going with a super clean dope flute melody leading us through the tune.
FAKE IT features the super catchy vocals of Joe Garratt and takes us deep into a land of future garage styled beats which keeps going strongly into the sixth track GLASS which adds in some super tasty 808 work. Nice plucks lead us into the restrained super catchy ALL NIGHT with byblood feat. Cry4Tre which just continues bop throughout.
This leads to my personal favourite release on the album, COMEDOWN full of old school grime vibes with some classic Tisoki flows in the drops. Following this up is MADE FOR THIS, which you can totally see the introspective nature of the artist shine through. The release rounds out with SENSITIVE (feat. Charity Vance) that has some fantastic guitar work and a crazy good mixdown, and FIND URSELF, both dope tunes that bookend the album well.
“I’m so excited to share my debut album ‘01953’ with the world. It’s been a year in the making through some very tough times and I feel it’s a true representation of the art I want to put out.”
