After a brief period of silence from the rising taker of souls, he returns yet again, swinging heavier than ever. The Drum And Bass King of the Underworld, REAPER, hits us through the Bassrush label with a string of goliath tracks in his new LP, “Disruptor“. This ten track baddy packs a massive punch, really presenting the extension of the artists skill and development in music, as his renown alias has shown in coordination with his live presence.
From start to finish, there is a huge progression in REAPER’s sound in the this LP. He capitalizes on his darker concepts, and dips in even more intimately onto the melodic aspects. One of the songs that stood out immensely was the track “PULSE“. A very new age and minimalist style of track, that statues with an intense amount of character. It defines DnB in the most handsome of ways. Another show of advancement is “MAKE A MOVE“, with it’s progressive melodic movement in sound. A more complex beast, that has substantial pin points in emotional bounds.
I wrote DISRUPTOR about the distinctions and attributes that I’m striving to establish as REAPER. I want to be remembered as a force that eternalized the drum and bass movement. The songs and stories I’m sharing are intended to create an unstoppable movement to bring people together. While writing the album, I continuously referred to the idea of Newton’s Law, that an object in motion will stay in motion unless disrupted. DISRUPTOR is designed to create a new wave, a new motion, and initiate acceleration. I am the DISRUPTOR. The concept was to become a monument that interfered with anyone who doubted or wanted to gatekeep drum and bass. I want to share with the world how to love dnb more simply because I love it so much myself. This record is a testament to new fans that I’ve committed to coaching how to expand their love for drum and bass. I want to show listeners a selection of drum and bass that feels fresh yet familiar so they can love the genre more. GUN FINGERS TO THE SKY, DNB ‘TIL I DIE.
REAPER
All in all, this LP is incredibly impressive, heaving seven singles, and three collaborations, one of which includes the legendary group, The Arcturians. Keeping that REAPER DnB candy fresh as always, Bassrush took on this man’s presentation with no hesitation, and he did not disappoint by any means. Keeping a genre level and powerful as ever is something this soundsmith does with masterful work!
